Love Travels Imports launches scarf design contest for high school and college arts students

September is Detroit Month of Design.

We are looking for fresh, creative ideas and designs for our Limited Edition Avenue of Fashion Livernois 2019 hand-painted scarf. The winning design will be hand-painted on a scarf in Haiti by Sandra Russo. A limited edition of individually hand-painted scarves will be made available. We are excited to see what designs the high school and college art students come up with.

Deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Apply at www.is.gd/artscarf

On Saturday, September 28, 2019 during the Light Up Livernois celebration, the community can vote to name the winner of the first “Avenue of Fashion: My Unique Vision” contest for high school and college art students. The concepts of the finalists will be on display at Love Travels Imports inside of Art In Motion at 19452 Livernois Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48221 from Thursday, September 26th through Saturday, September 28th.

The guest judges have strong community ties: Mark Loeb of Integrity Shows, the organizer and founder of the Palmer Park Art Fair and Belle Isle Art Fair; Barbara Barefield, People For Palmer Park Board Member; Melinda Anderson, Senior Event Producer, Design Core Detroit; and Patricia Millender, founder of Clay & Cloth. They will select the contest finalists whose concepts will be on display during the Light Up Livernois celebration.

The Avenue of Fashion was known for years as the go-to place in the region for the best that fashion offered. That mile plus of Livernois in Detroit has seen its ups and downs. Currently, new road construction is refreshing the streetscape. Exciting times are ahead.
